Students Protest Unhygienic Food in Hyderabad Malla Reddy College

Malla Reddy Engineering College Hygiene Concerns

Tensions were running high at Malla Reddy Engineering College on Tuesday morning when a group of students, led by the National Students Organisation of India (NSUI), demonstrated outside the main gate and accused the college of providing subpar food.

On Monday night, students took to campus to protest what they claimed was the discovery of insects in rice and other food items. The demonstrators waved placards reading "We Want Justice." There have been three student strikes in the last 30 days. The situation subsided once the authorities and police showed up and confronted the pupils.

However, another dharna was organized by students and student unions at Malla Reddy College on Tuesday morning to express their ongoing frustration with the discovery of insects in rice. The students withdrew after ex-minister Malla Reddy promised to take precautions to ensure that the insects wouldn't return. Nevertheless, the students are demanding justice due to their frustration with the recurring nature of the problem.

Tensions rose as a result of student demonstrations at Mallareddy Engineering College's Gandi Maisamma campus. Most of the students, who are hostellers, complained that the food they were given contained insects and worms. According to them, this is not the first time anything similar has occurred on campus. The hostel administration tried in vain to reassure the students.
